B I O G R A P H Y

As CEO/Creative Director of Advertising Rising, Inc. for 15 years, Kevin has created edgy advertising campaigns and marketing strategies for the introduction of DaimlerChrysler’s GEM Neighborhood Electric Vehicle; and developed demonstration projects and guerrilla marketing tactics for Ford’s TH!NK City Electric Vehicle.

He also designed a comprehensive "EV Village" proposal for CALSTART, the Advanced Transportation Consortium. And he has been involved in designing an EV research project at the Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Davis. He even understands the marketing of Section 29 and Section 45 Renewable Energy Tax Credits.

Currently, Kevin is the Chief Marketing and Communication Consultant for the California Building Performance Contractor’s Association, a non-profit group funded by the California Public Utilities Commission to promote energy efficient homes.  His responsibilities include developing the group’s comprehensive marketing plan and budget; creating print, broadcast and trade show materials; supervising two public relations agencies and third-party contractors.  Bevilacqua Knight, Inc., Hayward, CA, manages the project.

Kevin’s experience also includes social marketing and issue advertising. He sits on the ZEV Outreach Committee of the California Air Resources Board, and recently wrote the creative strategy the agency adopted. He also created high-profile advertising for The ZEV Alliance that helped defeat an attempt by automakers to relax California’s ZEV Mandates. Just recently, he was asked to serve as Creative Director for the non-profit Campaign for Affordable Housing, a group dedicated to changing public attitudes and behaviors in resisting working class housing.

His public relations/corporate communications credentials include successful campaigns for several financial services firms, including Paladin Financial, HOME, Inc., and Celink, Inc., as well as technology firm NetX3. He also wrote and edited the newsletter for the Home Improvement Lenders Association and has been a frequent contributor to Affordable Housing Finance magazine.

Earlier, Kevin crafted his PR skills as Northern California Press Secretary for Presidential candidate John Anderson, where he worked with local media outlets, arranged interviews and appearances, wrote press releases, created ads, brochures, etc.

Still earlier in his career, Kevin conceived and wrote the breakthrough print and broadcast campaign that introduced Lead-Free Amoco Gasoline, the nation’s first cleaner-burning fuel. TV spots featured the company CEO as spokesman, a common practice today, but unheard of at the time.

In a different type of community outreach, Kevin has also achieved considerable success in fundraising campaigns for non-profits and charitable institutions. He was recently enlisted to help the financially-troubled Diocese of Santa Rosa recover from near-bankruptcy: the fund raising video he wrote and produced was a vital part of a campaign that raised nearly $15 million. Kevin also created a successful fundraising video for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, as well as a newspaper ads and direct mail promotions.

In addition, Kevin is currently writing and producing a motion picture based on the book "The Last Stand: The War Between Wall St. and Main St. Over California’s Ancient Redwoods." See the website at http://thelaststandmovie.com
